Dougal has gone to join Lulu

On Saturday our 15yr old ginger boy -our cat Dougal left us
He was 15 and had been with us since he was 3 mths old
.
He had terrible diarrhoea for so long and had had every test-with no results
He had lost so much weight even though he ate constantly

I just knew that he was telling me that he couldnt stay with us any longer

His last morning was spent in the garden sitting with me and his"brother" -our dog Buster who has dementia and who he loved to bits ,as they grew up together.(along with Lulu who we lost last year)

He had a big drink of milk-something he wasnt allowed!!

Then the vet who had treated him so lovingly came,I cuddled him on my knee and told him how much we all loved him and then and he went peacefully to Rainbow Bridge.

We buried him in the garden right near Lulu, wrapped in the jumper which I had put in his cat carrier the day I brought him home.

Even though I have no doubt that he had had enough,I feel so empty and keep expecting to see him-especially as our youngest cat Ollie is ginger too

Run free lovely boy with your Lulu and give her a big hug from her mum and dad

My heart goes out to the many of you who are going through the same thing

Maureen

Thank you all so much-your replies have helped SO much

Have been able to spend some time this afternoon in the garden-near to where Lulu and Dougal are
- I was reading a book which ironically is called "The kindest thing"-its about a woman who helped her husband to die and some of the things in it struck such a chord with me-even though Dougal was a cat not a human being

Our other cats Rigsby,15 and little Ollie aged 7 have been so different today and have eaten so little-I always fed Dougal frequently during the day as he would cry pitifully for food and the other 2 would be on the table waiting with him

I put a photo of Dougal on his grave last night -with a plastic wallet over it to keep the rain out.
I have been talking to the 2 of them and telling them how much we miss them-(as I have always done with Lulu)
I know some people would think that was crazy but I hope you will all understand
Thank you again-your support now and when we lost Lulu last year so suddenly has helped me SO much
Maureen

I am sorry to hear this. I don't think you are crazy talking to your departed pets.
