Sometimes I hate people!!!!

We have a 10 year old retriever free to good home in our local paper.......reason is relocation if you can believe it ...How can anyone bring up a dog, have it all those years, then just give it away

I honestly couldn't do that To advertise in a local paper you could get any undesirable taking the dog on. All dogs in their latter years require special care and needs. Surely that dog is going to be devastated wondering why his family aren't there for him.

If I was in their shoes I would rather have a dog PTS than give it away in its old age that is if I couldn't persuade a friend or family to take it on.

I could never do that either , my dogs are family members and here till they take a walk over Rainbow Bridge. If I was emigrating they'd all come with me no matter what cost!

I have moved quite a few times since getting Maggie but first thing on my list when relocating is finding a house where dogs are allowed, even if it means months of searching or living in a tiny shack in the middle of nowhere, as long as its big enough for Maggie then its fine! She's my number one priority which a lot of people can't understand I think it's such a shame that this is happening far too often to dogs and for someone to give up their dog who they have cared for for so many years just totally baffles me!

I could never have rehomed Rocky, even if we were broke I would have learned how to hunt rabbits to feed him. Like you guys have said, he was part of my family and I would have fought tooth and nail for him.

No way would I ever part with my girls, my Gypsy is almost 14, all those years we have been together..no way could I part with her..
I just wonder if its the, get rid of the old dog and get a pup for Christmas...

Have seen a few old dogs being given away recently
It's absolutely heartbreaking

I also could not give away any of my dogs I'd rather give away my oh my dogs end there working life in front of a warm fireside I do hope someone gives this old dog a good home so sad

I think it's heart breaking, but i think unless you know the situation of the person giving the dog away you can't judge. IMO
