Folks it's all my fault. Apologies. The thread was a year old and I was just pinging in the hope of tracing breeders. For some bizarre reason this triggered a flood of emails welcoming Julian, who is presumably in blissful ignorance of his second coming.
Novavizz, there's a short, and long answer, to your question. The short answer is : the Irish Staffy is bred to be taller and leaner than the standard Staffy, and as such cannot be KC registered as they are outside the standard for SBTs. They can be IKC registered, and some people confuse the two clubs, but for my money the Irish is a more attractive dog. That is a purely subjective view but it does tend to have a slimmer jaw and a bigger nose which ticks the 'cute' box. I think the IKC has now dropped the word 'Irish' from the title as there was some confusion btw ISBTs and Pit Bulls in recent years.
Some people believe that the Irish is closer to the Staffordshire of old, but this is a very touchy debate which rages across this site an a regular basis.
You will probably see the longer answer in the next few posts
Ciao
