From your Other thread:

My pup Theo is a 3 month old labrador.

He loves popping in the car and going to the fields or beach and has a great time off lead.

Now when I first get up in the morning I would like to take him for a quick 15 mins walk around the block.

10 mins twice a week or 15 mins everyday, plus plenty of free running

Have you any idea how much exercise a 3 month Lab should have?

You can easily get a pup socialised with traffic without dragging it around roads.

Im sure Some will not think its wrong & somewill think its bad, Thats what you get on forums, Opinions, as you know.

From what youve wrote it sounds like over exercise to me.

What is his genetic joint health like (his parents Hip & elbow scores)? didnt the breeder advise you on exercise for a lab pup?

Yes the breeder was and is very helpful so is the vet and the lady next door who has had dogs all her life.

I don't think whatever I say you will agree with so shall we leave it there ....it is becoming quite tedious.

After having a lot of help on the previous thread that contradicts what you say I feel I will go with my breeder/vets advice as everyone contradicts each other on here.

Thanks for your concern with my pup.........but no need..

over and out.

A Lab puppy of 4 months should be having a maximum of 20 minutes lead walking a day (5 minute rule) - it is VERY important not to over-exercise a labrador because of the risk to joints.

I road walk mine but from about 6 months - it helps to build muscle - and providing it is done properly shouldn't cause a problem.

Did your breeder tell you about the risk to joints in the first 12 months? i.e. no stairs.careful exercise management, not too rough play -

Unfotunately Labs particularly, in their behaviour often do not give any indication of pain, even when they should, by rights, be in agony - sometimes they don't seem to have the natural pain thresholds you see in some other breeds which unfortunately, isn't a good thing.
