How much would you pay for a behaviourist?

Just recently I spoke to a lady who was having problems with an over anxious/excited/ GSD she had rescued from the RSPCA. She had tried various training schools and methods but no one seemed to be able to help her so she turned to a local behaviourist who did the initial assessment for expenses about £20, she was very impressed and he really helped her dog.

She phoned to ask how much for further help and he quoted her £1000, when she balked and said that it was a ridiculous price he came down in increments to £250 for the day and then telephone support.

I have asked this question on another forum and rates vary from £75 for an initial then £25 an hour to £40 and hour.

Needless to say she didn't take him up on his offer and I later got him to come see her for free as I was furious

I paid 160 for 3 hours for a very reputable behaviourist, I can email or call her for advice any time for nothing. If I want a follow up session I would have to pay more though.

I believe we paid about £115 - £150 (it was over a year ago, not too sure on the exact figure) for Anton's visit from the behaviourist. This included an initial visit in which we were shown how to handle Anton's issues, etc. and a follow up visit in which the behaviourist assessed Anton's behaviour again, asked how we were getting on and offered more advice for some problems we'd encountered. We can also e-mail/phone him at any time if needed. Well worth it.

That guy's having a bit of laugh trying to charge that much.

my friend went to see one she actually got it for free but normally they charge 150, she didn't help her dog and made her worse so she has now decided to get her vet to refer her to the top behaviourist which is 250 for the first assessments then then on the phone consultations/follow ups

I would definitely shop around, £1000 seems steep. :/

£25 per dog if group session. About 3 hours.

I'd pay nothing.

I'd surch the internet and use common sense.

When I took on Stafford he'd been used in a organised fighting
circle.

We used David Appleby he charged me £34 per hour but spent longer than an hour with us each time at no extra cost.

This was some years back though....but he performed miracles with the dog
