Formal Retrieves - big cheers for indy!

Well we've been doing obedience for nearly four months now and they're both doing great but our big taboo has been retrieves,

felix throws the dumbell to himself halfway back and clatters it around his mouth and then refuses to sit until he's given it to me and is dutifully not improving in any way he can do it he just enjoys being an ass!

Indy was the other end of the scale and wouldnt touch it, no siree no matter what we tried, its taken alot of encouragement but tonight she did a full retrieve , its the first time i've even attempted it with her I was very shocked and we had our own little party which involved her and me dancing round the living room now when i say hold it she wanders off and picks it up and then sits close up infront of me wagging her tail while I tell her how good she is she gets this little impish look on her face because she knows she's done so well, i'm just soooooooooo chuffed with her I had to share

Mine have been natural at it, Maddy being the best, she aces it, Charlie is hit and miss but never really taught him it properly, only as a game on walks, and then there is Dusty who doesn't give a monkeys about toys in general only to cuddle up with!

cheers kel, they both play fetch but the formal retrieve part was eluding us, Indy because she didnt like the dumbell, felix because he cant hold and sit at the same time apparantly

I was lucky with Maddy she just knew what to do and she is good in that respect as long as you have treats on your pocket she will do anything you ask her! Poor Dusty, lol!

It's a great feeling when they finally 'get' something though, especially when you've been trying for a while. Bless her not liking it! How is wee Harry coming on?
