i was done 20 months ago, when i had Josh. i had a c, section and it was done at the same time.
i have not noticed any difference, if anything it less every month and i have not had PMT since.

a lot of ppl said i should not do it cos i was only 24 but i had to for me, no more worry and no more forgetting things that could end up with babies lol

my OH was going to get done but as i have had 3 c. sections and i was already on the table so i thought it would be easier for me to do it so i did

Hi Inca get you OH to the vets asap and have him neutered, it is far less of a problem for chaps . if you have had a Csection and they 'do it' at the same time that is one thing but doing it seperately is another. My sister had the same probs as Jackie, can't speak personally, widowhood is a great form of contraception

Hi Inca, I have to say after having the coil fitted just over a month ago I have never looked back. I went to see the gynaecologist specifically to get sterilised. The stats are that a higher percentage of women get pregnant AFTER being sterilised than those who have the mirena coil fitted. It is not permanent so you can change your mind. The mirena actually has hormones in it to help prevent pregnancy. OH is such a big baby he wouldn't get the snip!! :smt021 I had to have the coil done instead. It is uncomfortable to have it have fitted, but only for a few mins

I'd second that. Had 2 coils each lasting 5 years which gave us 10 years for OH to get his courage together & get done!
No, seriously, I had the serious thoughts - you know, If the kids & I fall under a bus I want you to get hitched again, you are a nice chap, it's likely a younger woman would find you attractive, she might want a family etc etc. Then eventually, as time passed OH was quite sure he would never want to be a dad again, whatever the circumstances. just puppies and kittens!
Good luck with whatever you chose.

I have a coil too. But I have it because I have endometrioces(sp?).

I hate my periods, so this coil is a lifesaver. Haven't had a period since I got it about 1½ years ago (january 15. 2003).

I'm 33 and single, so don't know if I will ever have kids....

My brother in law had a vasectomy back in the summer, but apparently they didn't give him the option of going to sleep, they told him it was always done under a local anaesthetic

Men used to be able to have a GA for vasectomies. Admittedly it was 250 quid, on top of the price for the procedure.

Don't know whether it's the same price now though, or whether they allow GA's to be given for this.
