Stunning, never seen them before are they wild dogs or semi domesticated???/ they do have a look of the Hyena about them.

Fantastic photos Dawn.... where did you snap those?

Yes the rounded ear shape and large size is for maximum sound transmission and also for most efficient heat dissipation in a hot climate.

Pointed ear tips inhibit blood circulation slightly, so not so efficient in a hot climate but neither is it in the cold. The slower blood flow predisposes to frost bite, so rounded ears are better whatever the climate!

Thanks all.

They were at the West Mids Safari park Pod. The "white" Lion (male) was pitiful, he couldnt open his eyes in the bright light, looked pathetic!
