How long have your rats lived for?

A friend of mine has just had one of her pet rats die at almost 6 years! I know the average is about 3 but has anyone else had a particularly long lived rat or small pet?

(Typing with one rat on my head, I think he's rather comfy there lol!)

Wow, that is old! I lost both my girls to tumours, one aged about 2 1/2 and the other around 3 years of age.

Oldest so far were my first two adopted boys 39 and 41 months.

One of our rats. Big Ben made it to five and a half years and he was fully grown when we got him - we used to walk the dogs wearing a hoodie with him wrapped around our knecks!

I'm currently saving up for a new cage so we can have some ratties around again!

Wow, 5 and 6!!! My youngest death was 18months due to tumour and the oldest is still going (though has hld) at over 3! The average was 2yo for most of my rats (I've had 10)

My two are 2 now although one is having problems with a food allergy so she's too and from the vets quite often atm
