recipe for fruit fudge
softer than tablet but scrummy.
Half pint of milk,
8 ounces of butter,
2 lbs of sugar,
2 table spoons of golden syrup,
1 tin of sweetened condensed milk,
8 ounces of glaced cherries (halved)
Oil a baking tray, heat milk sugar and butter in a pan until sugar dissolves, add syrup and condensed milk, bring to the boil, stirring continuously for 35 mins until fudge reaches 118 C, or drop a small blob of the mix into cold water, if it forms a soft ball it's ready, beat vigorously until the sugar grains form, add the cherries, pour into the baking tray, then sit and slobber till it gets cold.
