Patellar dislocation and exercise

I have a rescued podenco who is 1yo and suffers from patellar dislocation.

We went to the vet because she used to pick up his back legs "without" a reason and he told us that his knee caps floats to the side and that was the reason why she limp when we were out walking without showing pain.

We go to a sport club and we use to do some agility and disc dog (nothing big because she's still young but she really likes to run and jump all the day) and our vet said it's ok because she's fit, nice musculature and perfect weight (22pounds) and maintain musculature is gonna prevent dislocation to go bigger since she only has a 1st degree and she's an athlete breed. He told us too that maybe she's doing it more because she was growing and maybe now that his bones are done that's gonna revert.

I know nothing about health issues and I though it has some kind of sense, but searching through the web, most of the sites talks about avoiding jumps or quick runs to avoid stress on legs, which it makes more sense to me, is that right or it depends on the breed? Some little non-repetitive jumps over low fences are meant to be avoid too?

I'm waiting for a second opinion with another vet who is a trauma specialist just to be sure on that, but I can't wait knowing that she could be in dangerous and suffer osteoarthritis when she grow up if I follow the first opinion.

Obviously we stopped the quick runs and jumps for this week until we know the second opinion.

Any opinions from similar cases or whatever? Thanks.

Our late Rosie had floating knee caps too, we used to basically let her do what she wanted exercise wise but discouraged too much jumping. We had a method to put the knee back so when it went while we were walking we got quite good at fixing her and carrying on.

She was tiny though just shy of 5lb in weight which helped I think as she wasn't putting much weight on the joint at all.

She lived a long and happy life so hopefully that will be the same for your girl too.

Thanks for your reply Julie

Vet told us how to put in place as you said although for now it returns to place by itself. Hope being wise on exercise is gonna prevent her to go into surgery or have a worst problem on the joint.

Can't wait to hear the specialist opinion
