Update - Toffee's Toe (update @ post 12)

It's now 6mths since Toffee dislocated his toe.

Vet advised 1st 1mth on lead then 2mths. Last visit I asked if the toe should be amputated but she was against this, another mth on lead. I then had Toffee off lead for 8 days, on 9th day he was lame again.

I have not been back to the Vets as there seems no point, but have decided to keep him on lead until New year & pray he says sound. If he does not I do not know what I shall do, it seems such a shame with a dog that is only 4yrs & meant to run.

As my vet said to keep on the lead for 1mth on our first visit, I thought not.

Have you tried a different vet for a second opinion?

Sorry about young Toffee Darcy. But I'd do that too and spend the time between now and the New Year researching to get recommendations for the best vet in your area for your type of dog.

It's what I've done a couple of times and when I get the same vet name coming up over and over from all over the place - I go with them! Nothing better than personal recommendation.

Must be very frustrating for you thinking originally it would be a month and now this? Hell a month is quite a long time anyway.

I've made an appointment 9am Mon to see a vet that was recommended by Yarmouth Greyhound Stadium. Will keep you posted.

I could not wait until the New Year because I felt that that I would have wasted 2 more mths if I was then told he needed an operation. Have book appointment for Mon.

Will be thinking of you and Toffee on Monday, and sending loads of {{{vibes}}} that the new vet can sort out poor Toffee's toe. xx
