New CD, highly recommended!

As I type this, I am spinning my latest CD acquisition, and it's grrrrrreat!

Toccata, Jacqes Loussier play Bach

This is Bach played as jazz, on piano, bass and drums. It was recorded sometime in the sixties, but still sounds fresh and new. The selected pieces may well sound familiar to those who don't listen to his music much ("Air on the G string" and "Toccata and Fugue in D minor" being 2) but they are all given a jazz edge.

This is definitely relaxing stuff, and well worth the ridiculously low price (about £5 on Amazon) that I paid for it. The pianism is astonishing and one is left wondering how ten fingers can cope!

Go for it!

Sounds fascinating! I've always thought that Bach's counterpoint and harmonies adapt well to the jazz idiom. I'll have to check it out.
