It's a good point that kids will just pick up on the 'rude words' without stopping to think about the underlying messages. Not just kids actually! A lot of people will not see past the swearyness to consider what the point is.

Instead of 'F*ck you, I won't do what you tell me!' think 'Terribly sorry, I'll make my own mind up thank you.'

Not quite the same impact though.

So was I, (I think everyone on here was!) don't see what thats got to do with anything!

Don't understand what makes it wrong as an x-mas song.
X-mas isn't about good will and happiness and love to everyone!
It's a hard time for many (me included), and the real issues in life shouldn't be forgotten (or brushed under the carpet, as is what seems to happen!)

But isn't that the whole point? Christmas is a time of peace (hopefully), and thinking of others, rich or poor and not giving children the go ahead to swear.
Christmas, for me, is a celebration of Jesus' birth

Re the italics:
Firstly, who said it is (the non swearing version isnt broadcast), and secondly, how does one automatically preclude the other?

Swearing: you cant like Ozzy that much then?

In that case, again, i still find it incongruent you love a band called Black Sabbath that sings about black magic, whilst at the same time hating a song that references Jesus?

Im confused

I agree with you again, Elaine, blimey twice in one day!

I also think that there are some of us who find this record offensive and not appropriate for Christmas time, and yes we do understand what its all about, and there are those who think its a finger up to authority and think its wonderful.I love rebels people who can express themselves eloquently and have a point to get across, and I don't like money junkies or power junkies either, but this shouty swearing mob leave me cold.

I said I liked Black Sabbath, in my youth, as you get older your tastes change I suppose. Wether the song refrerences Jesus or not, it has swearing in it and the fact that it is the number 1 at Christmas, I think, will just highlight the swearing. Kids will hear it everywhere because it is the number 1...just don't seem right to me
