Do GSDs need boots for snow?

I ask because having owned 2 many years ago - they didn't even have coats let alone boots and they LOVED THE SNOW. My ole Sally used to shovel it up with her nose, toss it and try to catch and eat it as it came down! In fact if we hadn't cleared our path I'm sure she'd have done the job herself!

I can see the need for warm covering for pincy poncy little mutts like my Minpin (mind you NO WAY would she let you put anything on her paws) but not for GSDs and other dogs of similar breeds.

I heard about the horrible storm in the north, glad you guys are making it okay. Also, the boots are nice. Jade sometimes piddles when the ground gets wet.

She liked the snow OKAY, but quickly got irritated once her feet got cold, so I think boots are a good idea - IF the dog will wear them!! Jade will never wear them.

Her dog is an oldie, too... so perhaps older dogs need the boots more than younger ones? Maybe she doesn't NEED the boots, but she looks like she's just fine with wearing them.

Great pics

Thanks Guys .... This Gentle Giant lays down and lets me put each pawz on with no drama. But she is in her "twilight years", and slips and slides on hard wood and linoleum. The Pawz seem to give her traction. Mama needed a "hot toddy" after digging out of snow and ice for the past 3 days, uck Love snow, but ice is a different kind of animal, and we got 4" of ice on top of 10" of snow..uck

Those are lovely photos but hope that snow stays across the pond and doesn't come here

Your dog is cute. Love the boots!

Thanks for sharing
