A CEA carrier is a Working Sheepdog, Border/Smooth/Rough Collie, Shetland Sheepdog or Nova Scotia Duck Toller(or any cross with these breeds) that carrying a single recessive gene for Coliie Eye Anomaly. My Rjj is a DNA screened Carrier & Wukee & Jessie are DNA screened "Normal"

A CEA carrier does not have the condition so will not go blind with CEA, only dogs that are affected because they have two copies of the defective gene.

Affected dogs can go blind with CEA, but it can"go right" after 12 weeks which is why all the breeds that carry this gene must be DNA tested as well as clinically screened before 12 weeks.

A breeder took her litter to be eye screened & a puppy that had been very ill when if was born, was found to almost totally blind & with it's other health problems, the best thing for the puppy was sadly to be PTS. Not CEA BTW & it shows the requirement is still there for clinically screening young puppies even if they are from DNA Normal parents.
