ooh god your going to get me shot now!

its so his ears stick up and stay up, because he is teething etc they flop down, and once the crease gets in there its harder for the ears to go back up, if it all. so they get taped so it makes the cartilage and muscle stronger so they stay up. if they stay down i cant show him, as its a breed fault.

thanks for that, I have a pug puppy and I've noticed that one or his ears keeps flopping back, I wonder if the same could be applied to it. He's 5 mths old.

I dont know anything about pugs, but regarding ear taping I would have thought at 5months old if the ear is down its going to stay down, far to late to help it up imo.

For me, ear taping isnt something I disagree with - but its also not something you should be doing through out the pups life. we have taped a few puppies ears and they were only in for a couple of days, I personally wouldnt be taping after 15 or so weeks. Its not meant to be there to make them soild, and force them up - it really is just to give them a helping hand. Plus alot of crestie judges check ears, and get funny about them because you can tell an ear that has been forced up as when tilting the head back and the like the ears dont move as their just stuck soild to the position they have been taped to.

Yes the ears do flop, but one flops backward so doesn't match the other, I've noticed that if I press on the cartilage the ear drops to the same length for a short while and then flops back again. It doesn't really matter as he's not going to be shown (although the breeder did want to) but i suppose this would be considered a fault if it doesn't alter.I shall have to wait and see.
