Wolves in grave danger please sign the petition.

http://www.thepetitionsite.com/5/act...es-protection/

Senators Baucus and Tester of Montana have introduced legislation that would circumvent our latest court victory by stripping wolves of their endangered species protection in both Montana and Idaho.

The bill would lead to open season on wolves. Hundreds of them could be gunned down.

There is no time to lose. The Baucus-Tester bill could be attached to a spending bill and voted on in the next two weeks -- without public hearings or debate

Congress has never before removed an animal from the Endangered Species List. The Baucus-Tester bill will not only lead to the slaughter of wolves, it will set a terrible precedent by replacing scientific judgment with political calculation -- undermining the very basis of the Endangered Species Act.

i have an update on the situation both good and bad news the good news is anti-wolf forces in congress failed in their attempt to hijack a spending bill and strip the Wolves of their endangered species protection.

the bad news is its only a temporary reprieve and in less than 30 days there will be another round of Congressional attacks on wolves

The recent elections have given anti-wolf forces more power in both the House and the Senate. We fully expect those forces to mount a new, all-out effort to pass legislation that would strip wolves of their life-saving protections.

Their strategy is a blatant attempt to bypass court orders and good science, which say that wolves should remain on the Endangered Species List, protected from mass killing, until they’re fully recovered.

If they succeed, it will lead to “open season” on wolves in Greater Yellowstone and across the Northern Rockies. Hundreds of them could be gunned down.

That’s why NRDC must be ready to defend wolves from the very first day of the new Congress
