This is true - many, many years...... a good enough reason NEVER to set foot in there, which I chose to do. If more people knew about this practice and enough boycotted it, it would stop.

Outrageous!

I am back, half drowned, the lanes are flooded.

OK, if everyone is happy with that wording I might just jiggle it so we don't need the actual numbers, as time is of the essence here..

What do you all think.

Drip, drip, Hope I don't short my keyboard

How's this - I changed it a little as it was a bit dogcentric (unsurprisingly!).

I will give it an hour or so to get any feedback and then go ahead if you all agree.

STOP HARRODS SELLING LIVESTOCK

It is a shocking fact that Harrods Department store In Knightsbridge , London is selling animals in store.
Puppies , kittens and other small animals can be picked up there on impulse, with as little preparation or thought as buying a packet of crisps. No Home Check, No returns. Where do these animals end up when the realisation sets in that they are not toys but living beings who do not stay cute puppies and kittens, but need daily love and care for up to 10 years or more? Rescues are bulging at the seams and are struggling to cope, hundreds of animals are destroyed every year because they are unwanted and homeless.
TODAY there are animals are in pens in the store, not an environment where any animal should be, particularly puppies, whose early socialisation and contact can affect them for the rest of their life.
How many of these will end up in rescue or destroyed as unwanted once the novelty wears off.
An animal should NOT be an impulse buy!
Please sign the petition to prevent Harrods selling animals.

LOL sorry.

I am on a spare laptop (mine's in hospital) with a broken, flickering screen and am on Talk-talk. I live right at the end of the line and my connection is awful.

Just going to grab a coffee and then I will tidy up my stuttering

The Mirror rang me just after Elaine did. I told them everything I'd seen and what I thought about it! The guy I spoke to thought it had been banned and had no idea they were still selling puppies. He said he's a dog lover himself which always helps! He took all my details and Elaine gave him hers as well.

Elaine, do you want to contact Dogs Today and I'll do Your Dog?

I'll do Dogs Trust as I soon as I can, just have to jump in a shower and then I'll get an email sorted out!

I phoned Harrods and queried them and they told me once you have bought and paid for the puppy, they then give you the breeders details! I couldn't believe it! The pups could come from god knows anywhere and any decent person would want to know where these pedigrees came from and would want to know about the health of the lines.

Elaine got a different version of the story, they gave her the details of three breeders (as she's mentioned already) as she said she was interested in buying a puppy!

Obviously only in it for the money! Puppy farming!

I have phoned a couple of dog magazines but nobody there over the weekend so will try again on Monday.
I do hope the Mirror follows this up with me and Julia (WestieN)
Just spoken to Julia on the phone and she is so worked up over this and I can't blame her. I am livid I am supposed to be going to a dinner dance this evening and I am not in the mood now. I want to stay here and watch this thread.
