The "give" or "leave"

Following on from my last post about returning with the ball to me.
I had another conversation this evening with a fellow Stafford owner, Sal was holding on as she does to her ragger and I was as you do swinging her up in the air and round on it (a bull breed game I think) But when I say "give" she looses immediately no questions asked but he was saying his dog will not "give in"

Now mine does and all mine have as soon as I say "enough" or "give" they will loose and leave WHATEVER it is. Do yours or are mine "flukes" of the bul breed world?

The pup Tess has started to "give" and will loose things but likes the game of tug a little bit too much at 11 weeks

Star will drop most of the time. Not when you have an audience though.

Kazz, all my 3 leave/drop almost every time, when they are on their own
But it take a lot more persuasion when they are all together.
They daren't let go, incase the other 2 grab it lol.

If I'm playing with the ragger with Jas he will let go everytime, I tell him that's enough and he'll stop, Tam on the other hand is whole different kettle of fish. She won't let go either. If we stop then she steals the ragger and sits on it under the coffee table so no-one can play with it

I think it's just practice practice practice. And then more practice.

Hi Kazz,

Not not a fluke, Cassy will let go when I say "enough" although sometimes If I take it away she has been known to try and grab it again but she gets a short sharp, I dont think its great to let the dogs "win" so to speak. Bull breeds can be real hedstrong so they need as you will know a firm hand and to know who is boss.

She is great on the springpole I have set up and when she is told enough she will stop and let me get it out of reach (otherwise she would spend all day on it ) Kip, like I have said before, enjoys tugging and getting a "swing" but generally takes whatever item we are playing with as far away from me as possible and hides it.
