Why is it that dogs always sit on your feet?

I have a 6 stone + American Bulldog and whenever he either sits down or lays down he always sits/lays on my feet! My Jack Russell used to do it too! Why?

I don't know why they do it but Max does it as well. It's quite nice in the winter though when you want a portable hot water bottle for your feet!

My dogs have always done this I think it is to try and keep you in one place so you can give them love.

I don't know either.
Mo likes her creature comforts and slinks off to my bed as soon as she thinks I'm settled somewhere else and can't see what she is up to

My eldest setter, Bailey, tries to sit on your head

He gets on your lap for a cuddle and you know when he's going to do it as he starts making a purring noise, then, quick as a flash, he's almost on your shoulders. He's so heavy you can't move and, if you start to giggle, (which I do), he tries to kiss you too so not only can't you move, you can't breath either.

It's only because he loves me, I'm sure

I'm glad I'm not the only one with a dog that tries to sit on your head ! My golden will happily sit on your lap but given the chance if your lying down he will lie ON your head. Daft dog
