HELP! strange spots appeared around dogs neck.

Our staffie Zorch has some strange looking spots appeared around his neck, where his collar would go.
We took his collar off last week as we noticed hard, lumpy patches appearing which we thought may have been due to his collar rubbing (collars not too tight)
The past few days this patch has become gradually worse with these strange looking spots. they look red and inflamed (see pic) but he is not scratching at them and they dont seem to irritate him at all.
He hasnt been anywhere different on walks and so i dont think he has come across anything to have an allergic reaction, and no different fabric conditioners or household cleaners have been used so im at a loss.
Vets tomorrow anyhow but i wondered if anyone could shed any light on this.
Thankyou
Jo

what kind of collar does he normaly wear?

it does look a bit odd, at first I thought it looked like hair had been pulled out, poss causing spots?

but then I also kinda thought, if its a half check, and the chain area sits there it could either be the above reason OR he could be sensitive to the type of metal....

Or it could be something compleatly diff

but I would defo get the vet to check it.

Hiya shona,
he wears a leather collar normally and a harness for walking so the collar really isnt for any use. he's had the collar since he out grew his puppy one, and like i say its been off a week now so i really dont know!!

are the lumps all the way round his neck? or are they just at the front?

if so would this be where the buckle of the collar would have sat?

I know a few dogs are allergic to some of the metals used in collars,

boobahs wee dog paddy has to have collars with plastic clips as he had a reaction to metals,
Im sure the vet will soon let you know whats wrong...good luck
