Computer screen resolution

For some reason my computer screen resolution reset itself yesterday, it is driving me mad. It has set itself to the lowest resolution and everything I see on screen is huge. I have tried to reset it through my user control panel and the button wont slide. This is so frustrating can anyone help before I throw it at the wall. I am not vey good with computers at the best of times. So if any of you have an idiots guide on what it could be i'd be eternally grateful.

I have checked computer for bugs vruses etc etc and it's all clear and also running normally not slow just big

Hi, usually if the slider won't move it is because the graphics card - which allows you to see what's on the monitor can't handle any more resolutions.

The only thing I can think of is has it always been like this since you bought the machine? if it has you probably can't do anything about it, but if it has been better I would suggest a restore, you may have to go a long way back though to get it.

depending on which graphic card you have, sometimes you can change the resolution with hot keys disable this and you will be ok

Sounds to me like you need to reinstall your Graphics Card driver.

Do you know what Graphics card you have? (Nvidia or ATI radeon generally)

Ditto - the only other thing I would suggest is to do a system restore to a day before it 'messed up'

Thanks very much everyone. I am Dibley's wife and we only have one computer in the house between us so it was driving me mad as well. We have reinstalled our graphics card driver so the problem is now sorted thank goodness!!

Thankyou all for your help.
