Nope!
I have 2 dysons (can't carry one upstairs due to disability), and I've had one since I moved out 10 years ago, and the other for about 5 years!
I've snapped a few bits of plastic off one (due to being clumsy), but they both work fine!
(with 2 dogs and 4 cats!)

I think my hair is more of a problem for the vac than the dogs! I have quite long hair and it gets everywhere! A few years ago my future MIL found one of my hairs in my future FIL's boxers which were clean in his drawers, must have got transferred via the washing machine but I go bright red just thinking about it! lol
OH is the one who fixes the vac when the spinny bit gets clogged up with my hair, lovely job for him. But it seems fine with the dog hair and it's an oldish vac now.
My mum likes to have a new vac every few years (she's just like that) so it goes in turns as to which one my siblings and I get the old one.

What about washing machines? I have known people have separate washing machines just for the dogs bedding, to stop hairs spreading but also because it can clog them up and break them.
