Been to the vet with Mo....

...and touch wood al seems okay.
She gave him a thorough (and I mean thorough) check up and was pleased with him. His prostate seemed the normal size, no obvious masses in his abdomen, heart nice and strong.
She thinks he may be starting with a bit of arthritis in his hips and wants to do a urine sample check and a fasting full blood screen to make sure there is nothing going on, one of her concerns is diabetes as he drinks a lot of water.
Anyway, she isn't in a hurry to do them as he is fine in himself, but feels she needs to before starting him on any meds for arthritis (non steroidal!!!)
Thanks for all your support.
Phew!

So glad to hear that the vet isn't concerned.

I would definitely consider hydrotherapy for his hips - Kip only needs to go about once every 2 months now, but it has made such a difference. The metacam eases his pain, but the hydrotherapy really seems to have freed up the joints and he moves so much better.

Thanks Rachel!!!! They are indeed a worry, we are a bit paranoid about Mo I admit it!!!!! Just so relieved, we'd sort of started to think this was it!!!

Ian that's not for me to say, you know me I'm not very outspoken!!!!!!!!!! :smt037 Suffice to say, he is old, stubborn, a bit smelly and on occassion he is slightly incontinent when sleeping!!!! :smt042 :smt044 :smt043

thanks Hali, I think we might consider that once the vet confirms everything and we start dealng with it properly, there is a hydrotherapy pool not too far from here. Mind you, mo ain't really that keen on water since falling into a canal and getting a waterlily stuck over his face... Bless 'im!
How old is Kip?
