Met an Irish wolfhound today

I don't think I have ever met one before.

It made Craven look tiny.

I think you are right x-clo-x. The head is very much like a Deerhound and I think a Wolfhound would have much more substance - heavier head and jaw, more bone and body mass - generally a more substantial dog. Very nice dog though - lovely colour.

I have just measured him,I thought he was 25 inches but he is actually nearly 27 inches.

So yes he is tall for a foxhound, the standard for an English foxhound dog is 22-25 inches.

Thanks cravencraven, that's amazing he is as tall as my newfie, but i think she may grow a little more, as she is only 12 months old and he is taller than my rottie he is 26 inches.

Gorgeous....definitely a deerhound.
Beautiful dogs...I want one!! A lady who fosters for the rescue we work with has 11 Irish Wolfhounds!! They are beautiful but a lot chunkier than this one.
He's stunning nevr the less!!!
