Do you have any words you can't say?

Cain has taught himself a few words and we have to be very careful about saying them. Even if he is sleeping and the word is used in general conversation, he can pick it out of a sentence. We haven't taught him these but he goes mad when he hears mention of

Dinner
Hungry
Prawn Cracker

Tonight Cain was sitting looking at me, with his back to mum, and we were discussing getting a Chinese takeaway. She said the words Prawn Cracker mid sentence and Cain's head span around immediately like something out of the Exorcist! We were laughing our heads off for ages afterwards.

What words have your dogs taught themselves?

Aw bless Did he get any prawn cracker in the end?!

Kestral isn't too bright on that front.. still appears not to understand 'walkies'.. either that or she doesn't care. Considering she doesn't understand words spoken TO her, there's no way she can pick them out of sentences not intended for her!

Basset on the other hand understands
6 o clock (this is his dinner time)
Bushey park
Shall we go on a walk

And all sorts of other words pertaining to food and walks used in general conversation.. he even started to pick up on our code versions like 'shall we perambulate the hound in BP' instead of 'shall we walk the dog in Bushey Park'.

He's always listening and trying to understand!

Jimmi isn't the brightest of little dogs, but he has cottoned on to the following:

Dinner
Shall we........
Get ready......
Banana
Cats/rats/bats/hats/pats etc.

I wonder if they understand something else apart from the word? I always think mine (well one of mine) gets the message from something else like I dunno some sort of biochemical change in us when we are referring to them or thinking about doing something for them?

I tried it out a bit by saying cuppacuppa for everthing- walks, food, treats and going out in the car and they responded correctly almost every time.

Just dont call in and ask for a cuppa! hee hee

Not so bad now he's a bit deaf but when he had perfect hearing, he would understand when you said:

Car
Dinner/Breakfast
Biscuit
Granny (always excited to go see her lol)
Training
Cats
Who's that? (runs to the door and barks)
Go out the front ( liked to sniff round the front garden)
Put the bins out (not sure why this was such an exciting event, it's not like he didn't get out)
Beach
Bath (hides )
Brush (smooches off, prefers the rugged look!)
Go for a wee
Pass the remote (this came in handy)
Lets watch TV (runs and sits in front of the TV)
