Watched the stones in a bottle thing in action this weekend - dog did not seemed distressed at all! And had the desired effect.

We're using a water pistol on our dog whenever she does something wrong, to reinforce the no command. She is now convinced mushrooms and stones make it rain, and wont go near them. Critical for her health really!!

Unfortunately, that while she is getting better for her chewing around the home, the novelty of her stopping is battling with the novelty of washing the floor everytime i miss her

Inca, the thing with these methods is that they do several things depending on the dog - it seems as if yours have perhaps just got used to them. It happens a lot, or else the opposite occurs and some dogs get noise phobic; not just to rattle bottles but to many noises . If your hubby was serious about one of them going you must be very worried (sorry just relying on memory, I haven't read right back through the thread ) then try a nearby reputable trainer or behaviourist. If you are insured then the costs may be covered but check first!!

Whatever you do, don't go to Freeads or yellow pages - they may be someone who isn't "au fait" with good techniques. Try www.apdt.co.uk or it not, try www.apbc.org.uk.
