Any electricians on here please????

I need some help please re a bathroom mirror which has the squares all around it and is lit up behind. There are two flourescent tubes behind, one of which blew, so I replaced it with what I thought was the same, turns out it's a yellowy tinged light compared to the crisp white (blue tinged) light on the other side! It's a 16w tube, but it doesn't say anything else on the tube to tell me what type of light it is??? Viewing it from outside the house, the light emitted is a very crisp white, sort of blue, compared to the lights emitted from the other rooms! Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, coz it's doing my head in trying to find a replacement for it!!! Thanks!

You've obviously weathered better than me then, Aitch. I wouldn't go near bright light and a mirror without a safety net

Why not take the old bulb thing with you and ask someone in the shop, they might know

Yes, that's going to be my last resort Christine, even though the bulb doesn't actually have anything on it apart from the fact it's 16w!!! I've got to persuade Dave to lift the front off again though, that's the problem, you know what these men are like when it comes to anything around the house!!!!!

He says he can't remember??!! He did say before though, when he looked at the other one to see what light we needed, that it had nothing else whatsoever on it??? If it does have something else, such as what you're saying, then of course that's what I need then isn't it??? I'll probably end up going back to the bathroom shop I got it from coz they've got one on their showroom wall whichis the same.

I'm a sparks, but I'm not able to do anything that you can't already do yourself.

If the tube isn't telling you the info you require then look in the installation booklet that came with it as that will tell you.

it could just have a series of numbers which wouldn't mean much to most of us

An Easy Reference Colour Table:

Standard (Halophosphate)TriphosphorSuffixExtra Warm White N/A827EX-WW
Warm White 29/30/129830WW
White 23/35/135835W
CoolWhite20/33/133840CW
Daylight10/54/154860/865/765D
The numbers in the above table show the colour code reference that your bulb will say on it. eg. F18W/35 refers to the 18 watt halophosphate fluorescent tube with the colour 35 (White)
