Snowy - Deaf Border Collie

Snowy is a 1 year old deaf border collie who came from a pound up north.

She has only just arrived and is still being assessed but she is a lovely very bright girl who is tennis ball obsessed. She would really enjoy an active home of her own.

More details to follow.

Snowy is a lovely little collie girl who has come to Wiccaweys from a Northern Pound. She was rescued on the day she was due to be PTS.

Snowy is a great girl, she is full of fun and mischief - she LOVES her cuddles! She really enjoys the company of other dogs.

Snowy is deaf, and so we think that is the reason why she was dumped. It doesn't stop her from enjoying life, and learning things. She was so pleased to realise that she was with people who understood and could communicate with her.

Living with, and working with deaf dogs is not as daunting as it can first appear. The dogs soon pick up on sign language, and they watch you for all their commands - the same as a hearing dog - you are just talking to them with your hands as well as your voice and facial expressions.

Deaf dogs can achieve just as much training wise as a hearing dog, and can compete at agility, flyball and obedience.

If you are interested in offering the very lovely Snowy a home, we will support you all the way with advice and reassurance. We have several deaf dogs in homes now, and their families are always willing to provide information, help and support to anyone willing to take on another of these very special dogs.

Snowy has come to foster with me since Frankie set off for his new home. She is a lovely girl, very keen, she has explored the house and garden and had some dinner. She is a little bit woofy at the moment, but then it is all new here and not much else can be expected of her for a while.....after all she cant even hear herself

Good luck Snowy - you are one we would have liked to have kept.
