Dog grooming

Im going to do a course in dog grooming, ive been looking at a course on the internet, at the animal care college, for the theory side, and then hopefully at my local agricultural college for the practical, or with a dog groomer in the next villiage, i love clipping scrumpy but dont really know what im doing , so i figured i can learn properly and who knows maybe open my own salon

Gems I would have thought the best place to learn to trim is from a person who trims and has a business they are doing it all day every day and will have a variety of breeds coming to them . Maybe you can find a good one in your area? There used be be places to learn advertised in the back of the dog papers too.

I've been thinking about doing a similar thing Gems. I work from home all day and thought it would be a good idea to have a wee night job a couple of times a week. Now I'm not interested in all dog grooming but I was thinking of learning to handstrip all the wire coated breeds (pet dogs , don't think anyone would let me near their show dogs) and maybe doing this as an extra job. I am going to contact some breed clubs, to see if they run seminars or if they think any breeders would let me "volunteer" with handstripping some of their oldies. This is a bit of a labour of love for me, but I also really enjoy handstripping and love seeing the finished results.
