'Positive Reinforcement' has actually worked with Midge (Patterdale)

I am now able to walk Midge off lead up and down the road!!

At first, I only let him off half way from home, but gradually increased it and now he only goes on a lead as we go round the corner, but this is for safety, so I can check there are no cars coming!

I put him over the fence into a field today, let him run around, then started walking away and called him, and he popped through the fence and came running up to me!!

I'm hoping that this means there is hope for the new terrier Tilly!!

That's beacuse positive reinforcement works!

It's great being able to have your dog off lead, careful of the road though, does she wait at the kerb?

There is no kerbs!! I live in the middle of no where! The only traffic we usually come across is the shepard on his quad bike! But Midge is pretty good and he just get outs the way, or runs back to me!

I'm so proud of my little man!!

Well done to both of you. I'd be very proud of him too.

When you're both 100% fully confident with each other it may be worth gettign him used also to "normal" traffic to make sure he does come back to you whenever he sees a car. This ay there's no way he'll ever get hurt by oving traffic.

Keep it up. Midge is obviously enjoying being with you regardless fo wht else is out and about on his walks.
