What a harsh thing for the rescue centres to say. Would it be worth inviting the centre staff to visit you at your home so you can show them what you have to offer in the way of a monster garden over the road?

I've got my fingers crossed for you.

It's so silly havig a blanket policy...you would make a perfect owner. Shame you can't get a reference from someone, as some of the others have said not all rescues would say no at the fact you don't have a garden. Is is quite true though and very sad that there are so many staffies waiting for a home. There's definitely one for you, and it will be a very lucky dog to find a home with you.

Quick update. i spend all of this morning enlosing the back yard. It back straight ontot he road but i've put up four big fences and il'l install a gate if the dog warden says we can have little flora. I personally won't use it, it big enough but its all concrete, however, it would work as a nice enclosed space if any rescue had kennel cough or something else contagious, a good point i hadn't thought of that several people here raised. I'll keep everyone posted on the outcome, i've just asked to look at a female bullie as well so i guess we will see!

i'm counting my blessings this week, i have a terible cough and Jake was completely terrifed of coughs ( possibly due to previous owner i guess) so its nice to be able to cough away today without feeling guilty that i could be scarying Jake!

Ooh, so you do have a bit of a yard - I really reckon that will make such a difference, even as you say, you won't actually use it.

I have my fingers well and truly crossed for you & look forward to the updates.

I remember your thread about Jake and his fear of coughing and as you say, it is a blessing that you've got it now rather than a couple of weeks ago.

Put a gate on and you DO have an enclosed garden. No matter its concrete - you have an outside space.
Do the maps and references too and I reckon you'll be unstoppable!

Very best of luck in getting Flora *hugs*

We were in the same boat when we were looking for a rescue. But we were able to find Ivan's rescue group and the aloud us to get him as we already had an Aussie and figured we knew about the energy he would have and that we have horses and take the dogs there with us and we are looking to rent a 12 acre farm he very soon. There are very few out there but I think if you keep looking and dont give up then you will find one. Best of luck!

I must admit, i feel a bit dense not having thought of the back straight away, it was so run down i hadn't considered doing it up. If i add a table and a few chairs it'll look ok now!
