**UPDATED: 7th JULY 2013**
Location: Foster home in Norfolk, UK.
Key Points: Super dog, huge potential, very affectionate and cuddly, active mind, loves people, friendly, dog savvy, travels well, would flourish in an active home who will exercise his body and mind.
The beautiful Spirit is a 1 year old lurcher boy who is looking for a forever family to call his own. He is a fab young dog with a sleek, shiny coat and just needs a bit more muscling before he’s an absolute stunner. He is 24” to the shoulder. Spirit was very lucky to be rescued from a potentially not-so-nice life, and his only remnant of this bad start is his docked tail.
Spirit recently visited the talented Madaboutgreys Studio and now has some fabulous beauty shots!

~ Personality ~
Generally: Friendly, confident, cuddly, exuberant, loves life, has basic training, needs work on focusing and attention span, huge potential.
Spirit lives up to his name, as he’s simply full of it! He’s a lovely, exuberant, active boy who is crying out for someone to play with him and show him fun things to do. He adores all people and is always ready for a big squishy cuddle. He is also very responsive and is rapidly learning new tricks and commands. So far he can sit, lie down, go to bed and his foster parents are working on his current habit of jumping up when saying hi. This boy needs positive training with tasty treats and engaging interactions to learn and grow.
Spirit is super social and loves other dogs, he has come along on a few of our meet’n’greets now and is always such a charmer, yet still hasn’t had much interest. He has a very bright mind that really needs a job to do. Spirit would be fantastic at something active and exciting such as agility or flyball. We think he’d be a pro!
~ In the Home ~
Generally: Excellent in the home, housetrained, good food manners, shares well, ok to be left, loves to play.
Spirit has been in his foster home for 2 weeks now and is doing just splendidly. He looks to his canine buddies for direction and is a very quick learner. Already he knows not to pester his foster parents when they're eating, is completely housetrained, quiet through the night and is ok to be left.
This fabulous boy is great with kids and loves to play with them, making him suitable to be homed with children over age 8 years. Spirit is also very playful and adores his ball and rope twist toys. He is getting the hang of ‘fetch’!
~ Other Animals ~
Generally: Adores dogs, loves playing chase, would do best living with another dog(s).
Spirit has been ace with all the other dogs he has met. He loves canine company, and adores nothing more than a good hard run with someone who can keep up with him. He is sharing his foster home with another lurcher and a jack Russell and loves them both to bits.
He is non-confrontational with other dogs, accepts a telling off, and is also more happy and adjusted in their company. He would be delighted to live in a home with another playful dog or two present to help burn any excess energy.
~ Out and About ~
Generally: Lead walking greatly improved, excellent in the car, very social and curious, can bark if overexcited.
Spirit has more energy and healthy exuberance than your average adult greyhound. He does still have his ‘flop on the grass’ moments, but also loves to be active and use his brain. He would absolutely flourish in a fairly active home that will take him on long walks, offlead romps, and show him the world.
Spirit’s lead work is coming along very well since he’s left kennels. He can still pull at times, but is much more relaxed now and a Gentle Leader is a great aid for him. Spirit can get overexcited if he sees another dog running loose, simply because he wants to run and play and say hi “right now!”. There is no malice at all in him, though he will bark his frustration if he is on lead and another dog is free running. If everyone is on lead he greets other dogs as normal, and is a very social, friendly, easy going boy.
With a decent amount of time on recall training and bond building in the home first, Spirit will be suitable to be let offlead in safe areas away from public roads and livestock. This boy would be a really good jogging companion as he loves to run.
