I agree locking them, so the info is still there, but old threads arent popping up, its quite confusing having year old threads about

Sometimes, there may be a legitimate reason for replying in an old thread, so I don't really want to lock them. It's only really started to happen since the similar threads option and I think getting rid of it first will be a good step - if it still happens might have to consider locking them...

I wondered where the old posts were coming from. ..it is a bit disconcerting to see a thread you posted in ages ago suddenly appear particularly when it containd bad news( like DDs dog ).. I would say get rid of the 'similar thread' if that is the culprit but leave the threads in existance and accessible
