Interested in finding out more about this dear boy? Please read on…

This beautiful scruffy boy is Dali. Isn’t he just scrumptious?! He is a 2 year old lurcher, perhaps a beddie x, who is looking for a new family to take him in. Dali was surrendered to our rescue as his previous owners did not have enough time for him, and as a result he became destructive in the home. Dali has a beautiful deerhound type scruffy coat, charcoal black in colour, making him a little bit different from the typical deerhound grey.

~ Personality ~
Generally: A cuddle monster, very friendly, loves people, active mind, responds to treats and praise.
Dali has been with us for a month now and is settling well considering he’s coming from a home environment. He has OODLES of love to give and loves people to bits. He is bouncy, super cuddly and so affectionate, it’s a joy to be around him. Dali also has an active mind and likes to be with you, doing things. He would be a fantastic companion for a hiker/walker as he has lots of ‘go’, but don’t forget he is a lurcher and so does like to sleep for several hours after his exercise too! Dali loves his treats and this makes him quite trainable. He is simply a fantastic dog and will do SO well in the right kind of home where he won't be left for 9 to 6 and his active mind is utilised.

~ In the Home ~
Generally: Previously in a home and home savvy, destructive due to being left from 9-6 so needs interaction throughout the day.
Dali was previously in a home before coming to us, so he is familiar with the usual household things. He had become destructive in his previous home as he was being left all day while his parents worked, and really he is just a bit too young and active to not get bored silly. In the right kind of home we don’t think Dali will be destructive, and if he ever tries he can be distracted and redirected with yummy treats and a toy. Dali gets on really well with other dogs and we feel his homing would be more successful if he could have canine company when left in the house by his parents.

~ Other Animals ~
Generally: Very good with the other dogs he has met so far, confident, friendly.
Dali has been excellent with the other dogs in our kennels, and has made friends with them all. He hasn’t been specifically tested with small dogs yet, but we expect he will be fine with them. Dali can play a bit rough sometimes though, so extremely small dogs like yorkies and Chihuahuas might get accidently hurt if he was allowed to play with them. Dali loves meeting new people on walks and can get a bit impatient, but this is being worked on.

~ Out and About ~
Generally: Very good on lead, friendly, bit excitable, social and outgoing.
Dali is really good on the lead and happily trots along. He can be excitable when he sees other dogs on his walks and wants to meet them RIGHT NOW, but the more he sees, the better he will get. Again, tasty treats are the way to this boy’s heart.

This beautiful boy is quite active, certainly moreso than your typical greyhound, and will need a daily walk of at least 1hr to be content. He would benefit hugely from playdates with other dogs as well so that he can zoom around and let off that extra steam. Dali will need a decent amount of work on recall before he can be let offlead, but once this bridge is crossed he will be a pure delight to take out on walks and offlead hikes. Please note that Dali must never be let offlead near public roads or livestock.

~ Where Am I? ~
Dali is currently in kennels in Norfolk. He can be homed anywhere in the UK provided we have a homechecker available, but please note that you may be required to travel to our rescue to meet and collect him.

~ Want To Adopt Me? ~
Dali is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea'd and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure. This dear boy would benefit so very much from a chance to live in a foster home and Kerry Greyhounds UK is always eager for new foster volunteers. It is an extremely rewarding experience and costs are covered by us.

If you are interested in adopting or fostering Dali, you can contact me (Tam) via email: tam@kerrygreyhounds.co.uk, or speak directly to Bronwen by phoning: 075 000 62648. Emails are usually replied to within 24 hrs.

There are application forms for both adopting and fostering Dali, and we will ask you to fill the relevant one in as the first step in the adoption/fostering process. To speed up this process, we recommend you do this before emailing/calling. You can find the forms, as well as further information on our homing & fostering procedures, on either the Adoption Page or Fostering Page .

Thank you.

~~ [color=#3333FF]KERRY GREYHOUNDS UK ~~

Kerry Greyhounds UK is a voluntary organisation based in Norfolk, England. It focuses on rehoming unwanted Irish greyhounds and lurchers, as huge numbers are bred in Ireland each year and homes are few and far between. KGUK operates through a network of volunteers spread over Ireland and the UK. We can look after approximately 30 dogs at any one time in both kennels and foster homes.

Each dog is neutered, vaccinated, & microchipped before being adopted (unless stated otherwise).

We assess the suitability of all home offers, and we have homed greyhounds in all corners of the UK. If interested in one of our hounds, please feel free to contact us.
