Cani-cross - I don't get it

I've been reading the threads about cani-cross and just had a look at the UK website. But I don't get it

Are the dogs on leads so you can all race together and the dogs don't get in a fight? Or is it so you can run anywhere and don't have to worry about your dog doing a runner?

I jog with my dogs, but they are always off lead when I do it.

Can someone explain cani-cross to me because I didn't find the website very helpful.

Thanks guys

I think the idea is that the dog pulls you along, therefore runs in front. I could be wrong.

I have to say that Cani X sounds like my lazy Labs worst nightmare. He loves running off lead, but on lead? forget about it.

Jogging while being pulled sounds like my kind of exercise, goodness knows where I would end up though

It is something I would like to try with Beau at some point

Ah Dobermokey - that makes sense!

So the idea is the dog helps the human along by pulling them? I know Bryan enjoys pulling me on my bike (in his harness). We've got up to 10 miles an hour, then I got scared and slowed him down

P.S. Pudding the lab would not be impressed by cani x either

Hummm.....I don't think I''d stand a chance...My dogs have 4 legs and I onl'y have 2...plus the fact I'm not really the right shape for running!
We have very different ideas of what is a sensible speed

It does sound like a great idea for those who like the idea of running though.

At Sled dog rallies..most people (unless they are juniors) won't run a rig with one dog..so for a long time they have done cani cross so the single dogs get a run..and also scooter classes..its been going for a long time at rallies..but a lot of new people seem to think its a new invention!

Aha Sarah! Bryan the Bikejoerer! (sp?)

I tried the mountain bike with Tun but in the interests of self preservation/front teeth/keeping limbs intact we will not be trying that stunt again!

I like the idea, but since my dogs are in excellent shape and I am not, it's probably not a good idea

I have visions of Max dragging me over the finish line, limp and unconscious, and him not being able to understand why we've not won!!
