Poor Paddy - he must have been absolutely terrified, to say nothing of shock for him and for you.

Healing {{{vibes}}} being sent to him. xx

I hope Paddy soon is on the mend Jamie. Hopefully, once the swelling goes down and he heals there will be no permanent damage done.

Poor Paddy, just a quick warning. The worst time I ever had with any injury to a dog was similar---it was a cord which dragged on her and broke skin and bruised.

It then became badly infected ---its a long story as she wasn't mine until just after it happened.

Anyway please watch out for it looking in any way infected and whip him back to the vets if it is---even if it is a weekend. It will be worth it in the long run.

It was also very painful I think.

Hugs.

Yes it is Hillcrest, you know it?

Paddy is much better this morning. More injections of painkillers and antibiotics and more tablets than my Gran!
He is still very upset and struggling to walk with all the bandage's on.
He's home which has calmed him a lot, he's a very nervous dog at the best of times due to his racing past and the vets is a trauma for him.

I'm much calmer now I know the funny shape in his leg was fluid and not broken bones!

It was one expensive sit down on the bed! A £90 blind snapped in half and £300 vets bills so far, at least he's with Petplan so it should only cost the £90 excess in the end, fingers crossed.

Thanks for all your good thoughts, appreciate it.

Rune - thanks for the warning. He has two follow up appointment 2 days apart from each other to clean the wound and change the dressing and he's on lots of antibiotics. Hopefully it can avoid infection.
Your experience sounds very similar, can't be stitched as he has just broke the skin and scraped it off rather than a cut that could be pieced together.
