Paddy has really hurt himself :-(

Just got back from the emergency vets ,
Paddy has really hurt his leg.
We went for our pre-bed walk as usual. When we got in I took Pad's lead off and he ran upstairs for his usual half hour on the bed before we go to bed.

Anyway with in seconds we heard an ear piercing scream followed by a very loud thud and crying. Before I got to the stairs Pad had started hoping down the stairs. I glanced down at him and one of his front legs was double the size of the other and had blood running down it.

Turns out he has slipped on the bed and got caught in the blinds, panicked and just yanked. Well we have very stern blinds that are fixed into the wall and he has pulled that hard he has bent the metal bars in half.

Instantly I thought he had broke his leg due to the size and shape of it. The on call vet didn't give much away about what she thought was wrong with him.
She has kept him to sedate him, stitch up the opening in his skin (It was bleeding quite heavily) and x-ray his leg.

I feel sick to my stomach, I don't deal well with injuries to the dogs. No chance I'll sleep tonight, no blinds mixed with worry

Poor Paddy! He's in good hands at the vets, try not to stress too much (easier said than done, I know!). I would normally suggest a medicinal glass of wine for these situations...got any chocolate instead?

I'm so sorry, what a horrible accident for Paddy and you I hope he makes a very quick recovery. Shame about the lack of alcohol as that is probably what you need right now.

Found a sneaky bottle of whisky in the cupboard so thats one thing down! Vet just called, she has managed to bandage him without sedation which is good because he is a right mard a*se!

The wound can't be stitched, because he has done it through pulling on the cords of the blinds he has scraped all the layers of skin off so there isn't an actual cut to stitch. Antibiotics and painkiller injections given.

Hopefully the huge swelling will go down overnight and it will just be bruising, fingers crossed!

Just the vet bill to come now (£180 call out fee before they touch them!)

Oh no! Poor Paddy.

I hope the swelling is no more than bruising and that he recovers quickly. Poor fella - I bet it was a very scary ordeal for him and no less scary for you when you realised what had happened.

Hope he's much better this morning. Healing vibes are winging their way to him.
