Bird troubles!

Those of you who feed raw outside.. Do you have problems with birds?

I've got a pair of Magpies that routinely check the garden - where the dogs eat their food. And I know that if Louie didn't find it good fun to chase them that they'd be pestering him on the ground - as it is they sit in the tree above where he takes his meals (rabbits, carcasses and bones - anything that can be taken out of his dish) and just watch intently - they've even braved the hedge a few times - but have been chased off..

Does anyone else have any problems with scavenger birds?

Oh yes - I have them too - armed with a broom most of the time - not looking forward to the winter - may just take up the rug in the dining room and let them eat on the laminate or just the tiles in the kitchen..

Winter is the best time to feed them outside - no flies or wasps, the cold weather keeps it fresher so it doesnt smell and leave manky bits in the garden!

I think you really only have to start worrying if a group of three birds roost in your tree singing:

We're your friends, We're your fiends, We're your friends to the bitter end!

I suppose - but I stand out there to watch no fights break out and to see that Louie isn't wolfing it down.. I'm going to get cold!

I suppose they're not so bad - they do clean up what Louie's left behind - stopping foxes coming on the garden I suppose...

I'd like to see a bird try and get the dogs' dinner from them Nope, on a serious note, not a problem here and we get lots of wild birds because of all the fields and trees. The dogs do have a covered area where they can eat outside but Kiki tends to pick the middle of the garden and nothing's pestered her yet, it'd have to be a bit of a silly animal to try. Mine don't leave anything behind either so that's not an issue.

Louie only ever leaves little things behind. They're not too much of a pain, just more so now because he's supposed to be having rest and although he walks out nicely to go to the toilet on the garden as soon as he whiffs them he's running round like a loon - long lined now.

no problem with birds here but the cats are a different kettle of fish, especially our youngster who is convinced that the dogs would love to share their carcusses with him.

He now has his own one when I feed them LOL

We have a couple of magpies here, who have tried to take part of Jake's dinner! They seemed to particularly like the Turkey neck They aren't a problem though, and I have only seem them a few times so they don't routinely come to scavenge.
