That's a lot. I agree it's not like you're paying for decent programmes

The problem with the tv licence lies with the goverment, its them who decide how much it should be-the BBC only suggest a figure.

Personally,i think the licence fee should be scrapped and the beeb made to be self sustainable through either or both-advertisments/subscription.I dont really watch BBC channels and could quite happily live without it if it meant saving money,so why should i be expected to pay for something i dont use..?

If you think British TV is bad you should try the USA or Europe total waste of time except for the very best of american TV most is trash

There are a few good programs like ER, CSI etc but there are thousands & thousands programs of utter trash

There is very little in depth quality programs like Bleak House, or the David Attenborough type documentaries

The BBC is mainly apolitical in stance(ie they support no party)unlike in the states were every station has a political bias

Just watching Have I Got News For You which you would never get in the US

If you have Sky you will be paying thorough the nose for some real duff stuff & it will cost a lot more than the UK licence

Of course you could all get an over 75 year old to live with you then the licence is waived

I think the licence fee rises in line with the rate of inflation

I actually consider the licence to be good value, I am not a great TV watcher but have three radios in the house and contantly have them on, if you divide the amount of the licence fee between 52 weeks it costs less than £2:50 a week, to go to the cinema once a week for a couple of hours costs about twice that.
