High temperature of 104.7 (what should I do?)

My dog(1y old, Australian Shepherd Mix) has been acting weird for a few days, he didn't want to go outside, didn't eat or drink much. I took him to a vet yesterday, they said that his red-cell count is high and prescribed him with Clavamox 250mg and Amoxicillin 100mg twice a day of each. They also injected him with fluids under his skin to take the temp down. Today, I took him there again, his temp was 104.7, they gave me Doxycycline 100mg and injected him with more fluids. They also said that I should think about taking him to a clinic for a 24 hour IV. That will cost me around 1400$.
What do you think about this? Is he in real danger? Should I take him to that clinic?
Thank You.

Only a vet can answer that one. Phone them and talk to them if you`re worried. Personally, I`d take my dog in and find out what the problem was.

If you have been advised to take him to the clinic I would personally.

normally dogs range from 100 - 102.5 or thereabouts so this is high, a fever in a dog can mean it has caught a virus which could be serious or is fighting off a bacterial infection which could also be serious.

Perhaps you could pay in in stalments?

hmm..did they not give an antinflamatory jab to bring the temp down?

ideally if your dog temp is 'spiking' he really will need the iv fluids im afraid

In short, yes. But don't take it from a bunch of people you've never met on internet. Your vet who has been extensively trained in animal health, has advised it.

2 days of high fever is long enough. I wouldn't let it go on.

So do I!

That's very expensive 1400 dollars for 24 hours on a drip isn't it? Here in the UK, it would probably cost a couple of hundred pounds, and that's where my dog would be. It's too high a temperature to gamble on imo. Good luck, and how is he today?
