Police dogs in the riots

I am very disappointed to see not one police dog in the thick of these riots wearing protective clothing. At the very least they should have booties on!

Am I missing something here?

I agree. I've never seen any police dog in UK wearing protection. This could be due to any equipment being worn hampering the job these police dogs do.

I'm sure years ago there were trials on dogs to wear bullet proof vests, but never heard anything since.

I thought it was unusual for the dogs not to have boots on with the amount of broken glass around...

I think our criminals would not take a dog seriously if they were to see a dog in protective wear. A dog without it looks far more convincing plus a BPV's make a police dog look qiute silly and slows them down with the added weight i think its all more of a hindurence to their job then a help.

bpv were designed for the officers not the dogs though i can see where people are thinking with the dogs protection.

I think I have seen search and rescue dogs with booties on to protect their feet.

They did say last report that about 25 police dogs have been injured.

They should just shoot the flippin rioters. It would save dogs and horses getting hurt and be a bluddy good deterrent.
Police snipers on roofs are the favourite at my work today.

Hi Pidgy dearest, Ive tried to avoid Sky News this week because I get so upset at seeing the way these morans are causing so much damage and of course they couldn't give a dam about the poor dogs who are trying to protect the property and lives of innocent law abiding people. Like you I feel for these dogs who are IMO real heros.

Nice to see you back here BTW

These poor animals should not even be amongst this chaos!!
These Thugs are not bothered about humans, never mind our canine friends.

My Son is in the Paras. Send him and his mates in, they would soon organize the streets.

We need massive tannoys in these Cities. "If the streets are not clear within 10 minutes - anyone there will be shot!!

Those dogs are far too precious to have to cope with this kind of terrorism.
