Happy Birthday SHWA(UK)
It's hard to believe but The Siberian Husky Welfare Association (UK) is 1 year old today. Little did we know when a few of us gathered in a small village hall in Bedfordshire that the organisation we set up would be (a) so busy, or (b) so successful.
Obviously we knew there was a big issue with Siberian Welfare, but none of us suspected the full extent of the problem.
The first dog we took in was Simba - a big smily red boy
150 dogs and 12 months later, our most recent intake is a 10 week old puppy, Banjo
The work is never-ending, but luckily, neither is the enthusiasm and committment of our volunteers who have been incredible since day one. The first 12 months of SHWA(UK) have been a massive learning experience for all of us as we struggled to cope with the increasing demands on our time and our patience. Amazingly we have survived, grown and developed as an organisation and are all looking forward to the next 12 months. At least this time, we have a good idea of what we are letting ourselves in for!
In addition to the 150+ dogs we have taken in and rehomed, our volunteers have enabled hundreds more dogs stay with their owners by offering practical advice and information.
So, on behalf of all the Siberian Huskies who have been helped by the work of SHWA(UK), a huge Thank You to the volunteers, the supporters, and anyone who has helped us in any way during the first year.
Thank You
