Conjunctivitis?

Remus has had one slightly gunky eye over the last few days and today it looks a bit red so I'm thinking conjunctivitis.

I'm in two minds about the vets at the moment and have bathed it but my question is what cures home do you use for conjunctivitis? I used to use cold tea on my old fox hound cross...but that was ten years ago now and I'm wondering if anyone has found anything better? Obviously if bathing doesn't work he'll be going to the vets by Friday.

Cooled boiled and salted water (about 1 tsp to 1 pint) at least twice a day.

A vet told me that cold tea is the best 3 times a day, but if an infection is present you will need to see the vet as nothing will work on that.

Thanks everyone.

I didn't think I'd imagined the tea thing!

If its conjunctivitis, there's infection present which require antibiotics. Friday is a long time to leave the dog with a very sore eye. As anyone will tell you thats ever had it, conjunctivitis is very very unpleasant

Hiya, we'll I've been bathing and checking it regularly and it wasn't very sore...just slightly more pink than usually. I would have taken him straight to the vet if it looked really sore, was very red or lots of discharge....but it wasn't....which i think i did say. It doesn't seem to have improved so I'll be taking him to the vets.

I just use human eye drops such as optrex infected eyes or golden eye drops. Bruce Fogel suggested it in one of his books and it's worked a treat every time.
