Feeding for Giant breed pups

Hello
I know everyone has different ideas, and that what i want to hear

I know giant breed pups shouldnt be fed foods which encourage rapid growth, but which foods do ?

What is the deal with the protein and energy levels, what should they be??

thanks

Hi Gem

Dont know which brand is best, but I would go for Large Breed food, no matter the brand.

I believe Royal Canin even have a giant breed food, but not sure, as I haven't used RC.

Thanks Jeanette, the breeder feeds the pups on professional choice and pedigree puppy food.

Just trying to find out if that is ok, or what people would suggest,
will take a look at RC!

Luna has also gotten LB food all the way up till now.

She was fed Nutro Choice puppy Large breed when I got her, and I've fed her:
Nutro Choice, Eukanuba and Science Hills Natures Best - all large breed.

Now she's fed a danish brand made on fish, its not specific LB, but she's 16 months now, so I think its okay.

The sensible course of action is to feed, at all stages of life, exactly what your breeder recommends. This is presuming that the pup comes from a reputable, experienced, breeder whose advise you feel comfortable with.

If you feel that your breeder's advise is inadequate then consult your vet or, preferably a breed club.

You can also find internet information if you seach "giant breeds"+nutrition. Joining an internet group devoted to the breed will also provide a source of information on diet etc.
