I use my slow cooker for everything, lamb curry is the best, the meat just falls apart from where it has been cooked for so long , I love everything cooked in my slow cooker so its hard to give just one recipe but here goes

Coq Au vin:
About 750ml medium red wine
vegetable oil
4 chicken drumsticks and 4 thighs, skin-on (or any other parts you like, but always really nice with the cheaper cuts of chicken)
Pack of Tesco healthy living bacon bits (or any other, but these are really nice)

12 shallots, peeled and left whole
2 tbsp flour
4 cloves garlic, chopped
fresh thyme
A couple of fresh bay leaves
About 300ml hot chicken stock
A cup of mushrooms

Brown chicken, onions, garlic, mushrooms and bacon in oil, remove chicken to the slow cooker and mix the flour with the bacon, mushrooms, etc in the frying pan.

Reduce wine by about 1/3 then add to frying pan along with stock bring to boil and then pour all into the slow cooker with the chicken. Leave on for as long as you like or until chicken is cooked.

Delish I have it with creamy mash or new potatoes

I swear by my slow cooker, no matter what time of the year and this is my latest concocted recipe!

If you like lamb? Get a couple of those lamb shanks (Mr. S's are the best and meatiest!) Fry them off to brown them. Cut up some carrots, throw them in the pot with the lamb shanks. Put in some stock and rosemary,or get a jar of something from Mr. S's, I used the Irish Stew one which was lovely! 3 or 4 hours later, mmmmmmmmmm voila - bootiful!

Having been given a vegetarian black pudding and not having a clue what to do with it I fried it to start with, then put it in a veggie and lentil casserole. It was delicious. I imagine if you're a meat fan this could work nicely with the addition of some spicy sausage.

I do a gorgeous beef casserole...

lean casserole beef
mushrooms
onions
carrots
red wine
lea and perrins
dry mustard

and basically anything else that's in the cupboard LOL
I don't measure, just fling it all in and leave it there for about 6 hours, it's absolutely lovely!

How about meat joints? I have never done a joint in my slow cooker, only casseroles, but like the idea of doing a joint. Do you put water/stock in with it? How much?
