How sad. But advise your daughter to leave doors open - you never know what the future will bring and perhaps maturity will bring them together again. And if it doesn`t - then she`s got a true friend for the rest of her life.

I can imagine how upset you are Debbie, such devastating news.
I don't know what to say or advise. I think Claire's advice is good.

Clare & Jennie

Thanks for your kind thoughts. Just wish I had a magic wand. They are such a lovely couple. Just wished they both wanted the same thing.

I am devastated................

It's very sad..... I remember my daughter's first serious boyfriend - I loved him to bits and was mortified when they split up.

They were young and had outgrown each other.

Sadly, as someone said to me at the time, we cannot live their lives for them......

Sorry to hear that Debbie. It is sad when a relationship runs its course. I was so sad when My younger sister separated from her long term boyfriend, Dave and I got on so well with him (her new boyfriend is also great though).

It's nice that your daughter and her partner have kept things on good terms, I think a lot of times it is nobody's fault, it is just that people change and it is a shame when someone has enjoyed a good relationship only for it to become very bitter.

Hugs to you.x
