Almost every Cypriot male owns a shotgun nation of farmers allegedly. All national guard soldiers and reservists are allowed to keep their assault weapons at home to (and we still have national service conscription here for all males over 18 even for Cypriots born outside Cyprus but returning up until in their 50s). It's in case the Turks return didntcha know! They can own up to ten. They are not required to specify reason for owning but most are for hunting.
Almost every Cypriot male'hunts' too. As you can see not every one of them is very good at it.
They have little respect for season. I find discarded shotgun shells at the salt lake a migratory bird heritage site. And even at designated picnic sites. It is supposed to be illegal to use guns in residential areas but they shoot pigeons from their verandahs here. And they take their little kids as young as 4 or 5 with them all togged up in their camo gear.
They are gun crazy. Every high Street has a gun shop.
