Dog friendly holiday recommendations (Merge with Dog Walks section? Post #23)

This has been running here in the community projects section of the board

http://www.dogsey.com/showthread.php?t=109547

And as the feedback has been positive i now have permission from Azz to start this off, when we have a selection of replies he will sticky it in an appropriate section of the board for everyone to use.

The idea is this is personal recommendations of anywhere that dogsey folk have been on holiday that is genuinely dog friendly.

Please make a note of things like secure gardens, how many dogs were welcome and what the area was like.

I will start it off, we have been here 1/2 dozen times, and even though it says two dogs, i have always taken at least 3. Its just outside Fort william, and the surrounding area is fantastic dog walking country especially the forests, their is no secure garden, but the cabins are down a dirt track off a very quiet b road, my runners have to be kept on a lead when they go out, but my non runners are fine to be let out off lead.

The people that own the cabins are very friendly and can't do enough for you, would highly recommend them

We stayed here recently.

This cottage will take up to 5 dogs.

Two bedrooms.
Cottage small and quaint, but everything there you need. Small, enclosed garden at the back of the cottage laid to lawn.
Sandy beach about 200 yards away down quiet road - dog friendly all year.
Dog friendly pub just down the road - short walk along beach and several within driving distance.
Only thing to note - stairs are very steep and spiral.

We would definitely recommend and use again.

Low Nest Farm, Keswick

(They also have rooms for guests with motability disabilities)

I stayed here with Teagan (bullmastiff).
They've built some more rooms since I went, but a friend I know has been, and had a great time, as I did.

They can't do enough for you.
Dogs are allowed in the rooms, but each room also has a dedicated kennel (no extra price), that can be heated for a small cost.
You can leave your dog in there on it's own, or you can pay a small fee for the owners to walk your dogs whilst you are out.

There are towels by the door, so you can dry a wet dog off.
They give you blankets for the dogs bed, a tag for it's collar with their info on, a torch for taking your dog to the toilet at night, poo bags, a bag to put full poo bags in - if there are no poo bins.
If you forget your dog bowls, they will gladly lend you those too!

They do have their own dogs, all of which are lovely!
There are enclosed fields to let your dog have a run in
They also have chickens, so you get fresh eggs for breakfast in the morning!

The rooms have great guides to the local area, and the owners will also give recomendations to anywhere you fancy going!

Check the guestbook on their website for lots of happy dog customers!

Set of self-catering dog friendly cottages set near Loch Tay, in Perthshire, Scotland.

Lovely, well equipped cottages (all mod cons) on a 100-acre estate with loch frontage.

No sheep or cows to worry about!

No secure garden, but once away from the driveways (20m or so) dogs can be off lead anywhere on the estate.

Lovely area of Scotland for walking and sightseeing. Horseriding, clay-shooting, whisky distillery tours, highland safaris, watersports, cycling etc all within a few mins drive.

Can't sing their praises highly enough. Really friendly staff, no dog limit. For that hotle experience not self catering for those who don't even like to rough it that much

No problem with leaving dogs in the room and no hidden cleaning sur charge (Like centre parks grr). Dogs allowed in the Hotel in all areas except the dining room and food served in the bar for you if you want to eat with your dogs. No enclosed gardens per se, but lovely gardens and areas where dogs are allowed to roam off lead and a short walk down the gardens leads to an entire national park!

If you get the chance, ask for room 25 the gatehouse and you will not be disappointed ....
